Hey everyone, just got a question for you about the rpab , it deals with the section on the vocab, a couple of buddies wrote the exam and said that the vocab on the actual rbab is ten times harder, they said that this web site is great but the only problem is with the vocab section. I was wondering does anybody else feel the same way. And if so do you have any suggestions on how to prepare for the actual vocabulary on the rpab. I'm not critizing this website, i think it has helped me alot. MY buddies are both mounties now and say they never use the that vocabulary in there everyday lives. that was on the exam. They say you can't learn everyword in the dictionary unless you have a photographic memory.
They guessed at most of them and said they were really stressed about the voacab section. :?

i found the vocab extremely hard, start memorizing random words in the dictionary, choose the ones that you would never ever think people would use!

Yup,The word part sucks, and is the hardest part of the exam. You're buddies are right...just guess at them. You have no choice,I know guys that are getting scores of 4.3 or better and do bad on the english
I did try using a dictonary, but it's impossible to log all those words in your head. You are far better off focusing on math, logic and observation and trying to score high there, too make up for the english parts

definitely agree. I am a avid reader and always have been very comfortable with vocab parts of the test and written test but had never seen most of the words before. Focus on the other areas so you do well on those, you will most likely be just guessing at the vocab part.

There is no way to study for the vocab part of the exam. I think part of the reason it's so hard is if you get them all right or a large portion then they think you had some insight on the exam. Just be stronger in the other parts and you will do fine.

I would say by far vocab was the hardest part and agree that it can't really be studied for.

I'd say don't worry too much about it. If you're scoring well on the other sections of the practice exams, and are fairly well read (or have a photographic memory) I'd say its not worth the extra stress.
I found that the practice exams helped me out quite well with the RPAT and that I was more than prepared walking in to the exam. I also took out the Barron's Police Exam from the library and went through all their preparation as well, which also helped.
