Anyone ever had Lasik Laser Eye Surgery? I am going for my consultation/eye exam on monday and probably have the operation a week or two later. Was wondering what to expect. Does it hurt? Itch? Anything?

And in case you are wondering I am doing this because my eyes as of now are not to rcmp standards. Close but not good enough.

I had PRK done and if I were to do it again I would do LASIK. Do it, the recovery time is significantly less. It's a bit more invasive, but it's worth it. DO NOT do the PRK procedure. I'm over three months in and still not fully healed.

Hey guys/gals got my eyes lasered and have 20/15 vision now. How sweet is that. RCMP here I come. Down side is that I have to give 2-4 weeks before I can run the PARE. Oh well it had to be done.

expires after 6 months, most people do it twice before going into depot

Johnny is right. I've known a bunch of people (5 in the last 5 years actually) to apply. All but one had to run the PARE twice.

so Johnny, from the date you applied to the date you go to depot, it should be how long at least? over 9 months?? Im in D Division, and the average time to get in is 9months after you apply.

from what I heard 9-12 months, all depends on how busy they are and most likely the ease of talking to the people in your background check

Hi,

My eye sights are weak and I wear glasses and contact lenses. For police and rcmp employment, does applicant eye sight must be 100% or he have to give corrective surgery before applying for Ontario Police and Rcmp?

Please let me know because if thats their requirement then I dont want to waste my time cuz I cant afford laser surgery and I know fine with my contact lenses.
Thank you

Check out their websites, each has the minimum vision requirements listed. If you meet those requirements with and without corrective lenses you have nothing to worry about. If you don't, then you must have corrective surgery done.

Looks like my left eye needs a 'touch up' after 11 months of healing (PRK). There is a very informative Facebook group called "LASIK/PRK: The Complete Guide". I recommend reading through some information before deciding on a procedure.

I had Lasik last year. Best advice, Keep your eyes moist, with winter and all the heat, your eyes will dry and it is a pain. you will go thru lots of eye solution, buy it @ Costco, cheaper price and more per bottle. Follow their directions to the T and all will be good. Its a 30 second operation per eye, and then your done.
