I heard it from a few places. On my first pare one guy that was doing it was on his 2nd run and they asked him to get under 4 since he had close to max on his first attempt.

I did my final PARE last week. I got a time of 4:00. I had 3:55, with a 5 second penalty. I was issued a PARE certificate which I must produce at Depot to prove I achieved 4 minutes or less. Apparently, an applicant must achieve 4 minutes or less in his/her final PARE in order to go to Depot.
When you're at Depot, in your first week, you must run again and achieve 4 minutes or less, or you go home. Then, midway through training and again at the completion of Depot cadets must run the PARE again and still get 4 mins. or less, or there are consequences. I've heard of cadets being \"back-trooped\" as much as 4 months, and I've been told by the PARE administrator in our division that cadets have been sent home at the end and their contracts terminated.
So, Grinder, this is not rumour...at least it applies to B Division for Final PARE, and I'm certain that the RCMP policies are consistent across the board.

Well I have no doubt that in Depot you must achieve the time. I have heard of people getting backtrooped 5 months as well. And when I was at my buddies place over easter he showed me all his photos and the dvd they get at the end of school and they had 2 people in there troop who had been backtrooped. And if you are having trouble affording to go away to training for 6 months imagine 10 months. I am running my pare in a few weeks and I will ask then if I don't just call and ask. I am not worried I just want there to be clear and reliable info for future applicants. If I don't run it better than 3:20 then my 50 year old Staff Sgt father will have a hay day with me. I don't think I can suffer the imbarrasment :wink: haha well we'll see what happens.

Yes, apparently the PARE and PARE times have been an issue of great debate for quite some time. After I submitted my previous post today, I visited another site and found some additional info.
Although the posts were dated (going back to 2005), some of the guys on 10-62.com were saying that different divisions are/were enforcing different times - which confuses me. As I said, I would imagine that the RCMP uses consistent guidelines across the nation.
Anyway, to go into more detail, the PARE administrator for B Div told me that the guys at Depot are getting all bent out of shape when divisions are sending up cadets that are \"out of shape\". So, they've (each division)been enforcing the 4 minute rule...or at least B Div is playing by this standard.
Who cares?! Bottom line: Get 4 minutes or better and you're on your way.
Sounds like you'll have no problem cutting a good time for yourself. Oh, and if you can't achieve the 3:20 you spoke of, just lie big time to your Dad...unless he's a polygraphist with a home detector. :D

Besides he was in staffing for 4 years before his promotion and wouldn't doubt he knows his way around depot (which is where the recruitment office is) All well I know I'll be sub 4 for my first run and with my new training prgram hope to cut that down to 3 flat for depot entrance run.

My understanding is that in some - maybe isolated or otherwise unlikely - cases, the RCMP keep some cadets back (at Depot) before they are allowed to graduate. Perhaps there is sign that a cadet is worthy and focussed, and shows promise, but not yet ready for graduation, and hence to be \"released to the real world\". :lol: They may need more in the way of physical training, or maybe in the academic sense (don't meet the benchmarks?). So, they are held back, or back-trooped to re-do a particular segment/portion of their training.

back-trooping is not uncommon. It happens all the time. Say if you fail your driving course twice but all of your other marks are normal to high and you are in week 23. They may send you back a few (or a lot) of weeks so that you can gain the skills you need to be a RCMP Cst. I know of one person sent from week 23 to week 12. Thats a long time to make up. But it is better than being sent home. A good friend of mine failed his driving course exam once and was told he would be back-trooped if he didn't pass on the second try. He did pass by the way. Hope that helps. If you can talk to a recent depot grad about it.
