:? Hey can anyone help me with this algebra problem its suppose to be an 8 in the brackets

22y+16(8)=6y

Here you go:

22y + 16[8] = 6y

Multiply 16 and 8:
22y + 128 = 6y

Bring the 6y over:
16y + 128 = 0

Isolate the y:
16y = -128

Divide 16 into 128:
y = -8

Hi.

Raj888, your solution is absolutely correct, BUT here is a much better and faster way to fine the value for y: (and by the way, the following solution is what they are looking for.)

22y + 16[8] = 6y

16y + 16[8] = 0

16y = - 16[8]

Now here, just divide each side by 16 (simplifying) and then you get: y = -8.

Do not forget, timing in the most important factor in the test. Even seconds matter.
