About 3 weeks to 3 months from what i have seen. Not sure it can vary all depends on how backed up they are.

Well, I wrote the RPAB on Feb 12th/2007, so it's going on 14 months for me. The whole process for me was just a loooooooooooong drag... I waited 2 months for the package, then 3 months for the interview, then a month for the polygraph. After I passed my polygraph, that's when the REAL wait began! lol They started my BGI only 2 months after I passed my poly, in November. Then, finally after I got my medical clearance on January 9th, this year, my file manager sent my file for a final review (or so she says). I got really excited, because I was told that this should not take longer than two weeks. I was already starting to make preparations to leave. Well, who knew.
I contacted them mid-February, cuz I was kinda getting curious, she said that they didn't even get to my file yet cuz they had a huge backlog due to understaffing issues. Last time I contacted them was March 13th (don't wanna bother them too often), and they were already working to get me a security clearance (supposedly the final step before "the call") - it's already April tomorrow. Let the wait continue!
So I think I'm breaking all the records as to the length of the final clearance process lol - almost 3 months already. People's BGI's don't take as long as my "final" lol.
You know what really pisses me off, I've been going through other forums like BlueLine and 10-62, some people from other divisions started their process around the time I was wrapping up my poly, and they're already at depot! It is really frustrating for me to see that. Also, there were a few guys on BlueLine from "O" who wrote the RPAB on the same day as me and they went to Depot around January/February time... Anyways, all I know is that I am getting tired of making a mad dash to the phone every time it rings lol
What about yourslef, how's the process going for you? When d'you start?

Similar in nature to mine. I am heading into my 10th month as I wrote the RPAB 2007/06/16. I had to wait 3 months for the interview as well but when I received it it ahhhh it was a great feeling for sure and after receiving the poly results that was a hugh barrier removed.
I resemble your thoughts as I to have witnessed some very early file completions especially one in "H" Div. I think it only took this person about 6 months. But who reallly knows as these may have been laterals.
Initially it only took 2 weeks to receive my package and then a whole month to get the information together. Then it took 3 months from there to the interview. Had the polygraph in 2008/01/17 and results came 2008/02/19. Yesterday I was given the Psych Interview for 2008/04/03 and Medical 2008/04/22. My BGI has not began yet but not 100% sure I think some research has been completed but not all. I was given prospective Depot date of sometime in September assuming all go well with these 2 last stepping stones. As you mentioned before that it is draining however you will get there. I always remain positive because it is true there are hiring more people not more HR staff. You will be processed so you hang in there. My philosphy is that this is only the beginning if I get in. The life of a ppolice officer is not all cake and ice cream there is a great deal of patience, understanding and committment required. I feel that I am being looked after and treated fairly against the other candidates and have a good feeling about the process even though the going is a little slow. The important things in life are worth waiting for. I see myself everyday wearing the uniform and providing unity for my country and this is what keeps me positive about this process.
I am sure you will be fine and your file is just waiting somewhere in good hands waiting for the final stamp of approval so hang in there. Any time you want to chat give me a write back!!!!!! Take care..

Hey! Yeah, I hear you man, as a cop you're definitely gonna need a lot of patience and this process is a reflection of that. I too stay positive and I don't let any negative thoughts get to my head. I already made myself believe that I am approved and that I am just waiting on a formality. It's just one way for me not go crazy and keep calm. Everyday without a phone call is a bit disappointing, but I don't let that get to me. Like you, I remain positive and optimistic. And also, like yourself, I don't have a problem with the fairness of the process, it's the length (especially in O) that's killing me. Oh well, what else can I do but wait?
Anyways, I see that you're almost getting to where I am. That's really good, congrats again. Once you finish your psych/medicals, your part will be pretty much done, the rest will be up to them. Although I find that after the poly the process becomes a bit inconsistent on a case by case basis. See, with me they did my BGI first and then sent me the medical papers, looks like with you it's gonna be the other way around. Hopefully they'll start your BGI soon, I know they usually let people know when they start it, with me they didn't, however. My manager told me one day that he got a call from RCMP, so that's how I knew that they got the ball rolling.
If you have any questions, or need any info about the BGI/Medical/Dental/Psych, don't hesitate to bug me. And the same thing goes for you, wanna chat in general - holla at me. I just have one question for you have you handed in your FA/CPR and typing certificates yet?
Hang in there and you take care. It can only get better.

I am optimistic that things will be positive my tender age of 35 indicates that my life experiences are about ripe lol hoping that this will be factored in will all other intrinsic steps. There is one thing I cannot understand up to this point; that being I am going to final medical before being cleared from BGI. I am not sure if there is a concrete answer for that, it just makes me inquisitive of the order of the steps.
It is ironic that you asked about the FA/CPR as I have completed it just the past weekend and have sent it off to the recruiting unit today. I have completed the typing test however not sent yet as I am pondering trying to better my result. Initially I completed a 30wpm 33errors 95% accuracy so I will hold off on this part for a little while. In my opinion I personally think it could and should be better before sending it off. I am predicting that as a member there will be a heck of a lot of report writing and other paper work to get through. I assume that you have already sent yours in seeing where you are in the process.
I am now preparing and looking forward to the Minnisota Inventory on Thursday and the 560 questions that follow. I may have to write the Bic pen company and order a box of pens lol kidding. So I guess this leads me to my next question. Did you have any issues writing the Minnisota inventory, and how long beofore you received your results? Thats about all for probable questions for now.
Keep in touch and take care..............

Yep, my FA/CPR and typing is done, i got it over with early on in the process. BTW, don't worry about the pens for the psych test, but do bring some No. 2 pencils with you just in case, you'll be filling in bubbles on a scantron sheet. I was provided with one there, but it was done by like question 200 so I had to ask the receptionist to sharpen it lol.
My medical certificate came in 3.5 weeks after I wrote the psych test, and that included my psych clearance as well. I didn't have any problems with the test. As you already know, 560 questions, your fingers will hurt from filling in so many bubbles, a lot of questions repeating themselves throughout the test (only the wording is different). It's all true/false, some questions are really stupid, so don't put a lot of thought into a specific question, just answer it the best you can. My only advice is take your time on the test, they don't give you a time limit. It took me 2.5 hours to complete it, I was the last one. I really took my time on that one - I didn't come that far in the process just to botch up a stupid psych exam. Some people zoomed through it and were done in hour, and then they wonder why they get called into an interview with a psychologist later on lol.
Take it easy. Until next time............

Are we still required to have typing certificates? At my info session they didn't menton anything about it. I know it said it on the web site earlier but it wasn't mentioned there.

Yes, typing certificates are still required. It is listed on the website. At the presentation session they probably just forgot to mention it. At my presentation session they didn't mention a lot of things. lol

Anyone know what the expected wait is in A division? I just passed the PARE two days ago, but I have had my RPAD results for almost three months now. Some have said that they got a call from the RCMP asking just a few questions in preparation for the interview. I haven't. Just wondering. I'm kinda worried.
