Aye. I second that, that thread has beaten the topic to death.

EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT AND ALL POLYGRAPHER HAVE THER OWN APPROACH ON IT IM SURE HE CANS SENSE RIGHT AWAY IF YOU FULL OF S*IT AND WILL ASK LESS QUESTIONS ON THE MACHINE OR LESS DURING THE REST

GEUSS IM JUST NERVOUS

Well, I think it is safe to say that the polygraph exam will last at least 3 hours for everybody. First the examiner goes through every question in the booklet with you. After the entire booklet has been discussed in detail you're hooked up to the actual machine for maybe half an hour. When you're hooked to the machine, the examiner will ask you around ten "umbrella" questions based on the booklet.

My exam took about 4 hours to complete. You're right, everybody's is different. It depends on how much information you have to provide for each question in the booklet (yes, the examiner will fill out the booklet all over again).

But I think everyone who went through this stage will agree with me that the poly exam is quite an experience in itself.

It is a an emotionally and psychologically difficult test, but a lot of people went through it and lived to tell about it, including myself, and so will you.

"Umbrella" question will cover an entire group of questions on one specific topic.

For example, if the examiner decides to ask you a question about gambling, he will ask only 1 question, but it will be worded in such a way as to include all questions about the gambling section in the booklet.

Sorry I can't give specific examples, as I kind of signed those non-disclosure papers. But i'm sure you can figure out what these questions are gonna be - hint: the polygraph machine is a lie detector/truth verifier.

Hope that helps.

I know its easy for me to say now... but seriously, there is no need to be nervous... there are no surprises, you're just going cover the exact same book you've done before.

And don't be shy to include some extra information this time around, pretty much everyone does.... as long as its not something like you just remembered murdering that guy back in '97 then chances are you'll be fine if your disclosures are within the obvious boundaries:)
