I disagree - I realize that most of the math and questions you will never use on the job - but O.A.C.P has drawn a line and said - this is how smart we want the officers to be - and if they cannot pass - then they should not be cops. Better odds for those who do pass - by eliminating the \"not so\" smart people.

And once again we have the book smarts against the street smarts......... As I said before this test has nothing to do with policing. Just ask the people who were hired for the next intake.....one being the neighbour of a chief.... money grab, yes I think sooooooooooooo

It is not book smart vs. street smart - it is to determine that you have the mental capacity to complete the job. Times have changed since the early 90's when all you needed to do was apply and you were hired. No offence - Guest, but you sound alittle bitter? Did you fail?

this test has nothing to do with policing or how to be a good cop.
WCT ok i see, and the physical yes, but the PATI test is bunch of irrelevant questions, what am i gonna have to do to be a good officer, figure out 2y -54 = 14???
This test does seperate dumb with no education from smarter people.

I have 3 year Electronics engineering techonology diploma from college, I'm 225lbs ripped with 8% bodyfat, 2nd degree in karate and done 12 months in the army, i am more qualified the most i seen on June 29th in London for PATI testing, but if i dont answer math problem solving questions or stupid Syllogisms questions do i deserve to fail/???
HELL NO!!!

I have seen so many guys on June 29th clear the physical, and WCT but had problems with stupid Syllogisms questions so do they deserve to fail??
Of course not but dou think ATS cares??? NO again! NO.

I spoke to this spanish guy who worked for ATS, he kept scores for physical test,he said this time around they are looking at 80% or more percent to pass!!!

Bottom line is that ATS should look at PREP, WCT and PATI results alltogether, in an overall aspect and see\\decide\\review if the person fits the job or not. Not just fail people cause they scored poor on 1 or 2 out of 8 sections of the PATI exam. Cause someone fails on math problems or matching does that mean they should fail the whoe test or to make them wait 6 months??? cmon NOT FAIR AT ALL!!!!!!

I think that by judging someone physically and claiming yourself to be more superior person than most other applicants (as you stated) without even knowing their background - tells me that you a) have alot of growing up to do and b) should stick to working with electronics because it does not sound like you are much of a people person.

Cannot do it this way because then you get into the issue that \"you\" failed and \"joe\" passed - and next you are saying that someone at ATS did not like you; discriminated against yourself; etc. The rules - passing marks - and process is setup to test your physical and mental capacity equally amongst everyone and while I agree that alot of the math is never used after testing (unless you go to crime scene investigation or accident) that is the rules.

First of all bverspeeten, it seems that you have an answer for everything, so why are you still here on this site and not hired. People that have military experience do not think they are superior; they just have confidence in their ability to do anything. It?s a skill that they pick up on very quickly. Most people with military experience can adapt to any stressful situation and are able to continue on with their task. I have talked to senior police officers (20 yrs in the job) and they do agree with the guest above. It seems that the applicants and new members that they are getting have no common sense what so ever. One senior officer told me that they should go back to the way that they used to hire, if they did that they would have stronger police force?.. :!:

What was the way they used to hire?

Previously before ATS Testing all you really needed to do was walk into a local police department - tell them why you wanted to be an officer and you were told \"Yes\" or \"No\" and sent to OPC.

Hey bverspeeten, this is your response:

A)have alot of growing up to do and B) should stick to working with electronics because it does not sound like you are much of a people person. \"

hehehehehe.. first of all if you are so smart and have an answer for everything then why arent you hired as an officer yet?
By reading some of your replys dating back to 2004 I have a feeling you work for ATS.

Listen chump, dont be hating people that are more skilled then you and who are more experienced then you.
I simply said that I have 3 year college education, 2 black belt degrees and real raw military experience, i never disrespected anyone at all!!
I was in the army for 15 months, i served in Bosnia buddy, when you were sleeping at nights and playing games on the internet I was up for 3-4 days straight protecting Bosnian civilians and my fellow Canadian soliders because my country (CANADA) has sent me there to do so.
So dont tell me that i got growing up to do, you should be appritiated of soliders like me who have served our country proudly and efficiently.
Now I wanted to become an officer to serve and protect the good people VS. bad people, hence the reason why i joined this site to help myself pass the tests.
Military and Police are based on trust and honour, or in plain basic English BROTHERHOOD! Look up in dictionary what brotherhood means!!!
But I am not going to get into all this just for you, you arent worth my time. One advice, next time u have a chance to speak to a military officer, walk up to him and shake his hand proudly!

I never put anyone down, i never disrespected anyone on this site, i simply stated that it is not fair that ATS fails people because they do bad on math problems or Syllogisms and they do great on the rest of the test, the having to wait 6 months to re-write.
Does \"2x-12=34\" make me a skilled officer that fits the job?
Does \" ALL MEN ARE PRIESTS, SOME PRIESTS ARE GOOD PEOPLE\" make me a skilled officer? NO!
I strongly beleive in testing a person ability in physical aspect more then just making him do math problems. test us more, make us do more then just run a 6.5 running course.

ANyways, This site is absolutely great, so helpful with all these practise exams and tests, money very well spent. Forum is excellent as well, many tips to learn from. I am still waiting for my results. THANKS POLICEPREP.COM

Best of luck to all girls\\guys here on passing their tests!

Guest - If you read the entire conversation it was not myself that started judging people (and for all the other readers - cannot determine if \"GUEST\" is the same person - trying to act like he has people that agree with him - because most normal people that read the entire thread would see that \"GUEST\" is the \"@#&$\". I simply stated the following:

1. The process is introduced to show mental and physical Strengths.
2. If you have testing that allows the testers to judge based on his or her opinions it is not a fair process and leaves alot of room for \"people who feel they are being treated unfairly\".
3. That just because you say you are: 225pounds - ripped - 2nd degree black belt - that he should be above the testing or better than anyone else going through the process.

I simply stated that there is more than size - and fighting experience to becoming a police officer. I never claimed to be better than anyone else -Guest did.

So take it how you want to - but immaturity is really starting to shine through.

Guest - Let me know first and be honest - Is your anger with the process because you failed your PATI and or WCT testing first try? In addition if you want to continue this conversation - I have no problem doing so - we both have (2) different points - from now on just state your points and we can have a honest and respectful thread that maybe people will learn something from.

Be Honest.....................

Good call bverspeeten. Nobody ever disrespected any soldier fighting in any other Country. We Thank You for that. All we mean is...

Just because you did that, does not mean you automatically should be a Police Officer. With this testing, we all have a chance to do something that we want, and more, believe in.

But Guest....

Good Luck on the test. Give us some feedback on how you do.

Take Care

I agree with the military buddy. It's ridiculous to judge someone for a policing position simply on the PATI. For example, I am a straight A student and graduated from the policing program at a local college and I'm in the process of finishing my B.A. degree. Yet just because I can't get by the PATI that shouldn't eliminate me from becoming a police officer. It's a good idea how you suggested they should look at the entire package as one for example having the PATI, WCT, PREP out of a total score. This way its fair and everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. For example I struggle with syllogisms, english is not my first language. Just cause I can't pass syllogisms shouldn't shatter my dream of becoming a police officer.
