Failed!!!

Hi everybody,

Just got my Initial test results for Specials. I have failed. Big time apparently. Feel AWFUL! I think that I have seriously underestimated the difficulty of the tests. Anybody in the same boat??? Any sugestions for preparations? God, I hope I feel better in a few days.... :(

Eventually, you will start feeling good in a few days. It is just a matter of time. I stongly suggest you to not to think about your failure over and over rather you get involve in other activities for a few days. Then you should evaluate yourself.

Specials recruitment varies vastly from force to force. I'm a special in the West Mids and the tests that I took were so easy as to be a joke. The only purpose I think they could service would be to check that you have a very basic grasp of English.

With the regs, and perhaps the specials, I think a lot of it is supply and demand. Rather like the driving test, they need to fail a certain number of people and so they will clutch at straws on occasion to sift people out.

There have also been proven cases of white male candidates being illegally sifted out on racial and sex grounds at the paper sift stage, suggesting that this may also be an implicit practice that may well happen in the later stages. Be careful with this though, since awareness of proven racial or sexist discrimination against white males is implicitly viewed as racist or sexist in itself and can only go against you if you make a thing about it.
