Just curious to know if anyone has passed the RCMP academy and then refused to take the posting that was given to them. What was the penalty for not going and will that have any bearing on getting hired on the area that you want to go?

Why anyone would endure endure/undergo 6 months of some of the best training in Canada and then jeopardise everything by refusing a posting (that they have promised to accept in their interview) is beyond me.

Do I think it's happened? - Yes.
Would I recommend it?- No.

At any info session YOU are told that your postings (should you make it through Depot) can be ANY WHERE in Canada. You are told this AGAIN before you sign your Cadet Contract, they do mention this to you several times so the subject that you mentioned does not happen.

I know someone who said no to their posting, and the RCMP told him he did not have a job with them.

I believe they ask five questions before the interview and posting is one of them. Why people lie in the interview?????

Just got word from a friend who is now at depot. A female from upper Canada got her posting while in training. She refused the posting and you guessed it, she never got hired by the Mounties. Go figure. Hey everyone REMEMBER, when you sign up for the Mounties, it means your posting could be anywhere in Canada. Take in on the chin do your time where ever it may be and in the long term, you should get a decent posting that you will be happy with.
