Hi guys I have just discovered this forum and it is great!!! I am going to be applying the the QPS over the next couple of months. I am currently sitting uni exams and after that plan to start my application by doing my medical, beep test etc. I'm in my second year of bach of criminology and criminal justice at griffith uni and am hoping to get into a oxley intake maybe early next year. I want to finish out this year of uni and defer next year while at academy. Thats the plan anyway!!! I am just wondering....i have read through most of the posts and everybody seems to be doing the vic or wa prep exams even if applying in qld...is this the way to go???? I am going to order one over the next week and am wondering if anyone can tell me which one to get?? Any other advise is welcome also..thanks guys

Hey Jasper any of the prep exams will put you in good stead for QPS psychometric testing as the qs asked are all geared towards assessing your aptitude in areas like literacy, numeracy and problem solving. QLDPOL use the wonderlic test so feel to google it and see where it leads you...

Good luck with your journey :)

ok great thanks for that..one other question (for now anyway) the physical...i am currently training for the beep test and will sit it i think the first wed of the month at out local pcyc so as to fast track the application....is that the only physical test to actually get in???? i realise there is a massive amount of physical work once at the academy but is anything else tested beyond the beep??? i heard from a friend that you have to hold your own weight for so long...if so how do they test that and for how long do you hold it??? is it like chin ups???? thanks for any help yet again

For some services you have to do the PIN test as well. The PIN is much more difficult; especially if you are not a runner!

The beep test is the only physical competency test currently used in the application process though you'd do yourself a huge service by maintaining your level of fitness right up and through training because most recruits find the physical aspect challenging

It's your call police referees are definitely advantageous though if he won't be able to provide much input on you then there isn't much point...

They usually request two referees so I'd definitely furnish the details of the ones you listed here and give them a heads up that Recruiting will be in contact with them and MAY require some feedback *hint hint*
