View Full Version : york interview
i was just wondering if anyone who has recently had their local focus interview with york could possibly give me a heads up as to what they might ask... anything would be greatly appreciated.
man i will say be friggen prepared. they will rip u apart.
I had mine a while ago. Passed without a problem. It really was easier than i thought. Just know the typical stuff, boundaries, # of cops in force, Chief - stuff like that. Study their website for all the answers to any possible questions. It really isn't anything to worry over. Be polite like you would be in any job interview and you will do fine.
yah i talked to some new officers and a few that have been on awhile they all say the samething... they all told me only a moron could fail. all basic stuff plus having to convience them why i would stay with york if i was hired and not moving back up north.
i am no saint but the cop that interviewed me ripped my background apart and it was shit i did when i was a kid. knowing facts on york, easy. suitability not so easy. yes know your york facts.

What do you mean they ripped you? DId they question you as to what you did, and did you pass?
the recruiter basically did not like my background from things i did as a teen. no i did not advance. but hey not all recruiters will like u and u keep on going the course. i am much older now and i have learned from my mistakes and u know what that was his choice. basically he ripped apart every aspect of my life. no one is a saint and i was not a bad bad person just mad dumb choices when young. i learned excepted and kept on going with my dream is what i mean. not everyone is a goodie goodie. so as far as facts on york no problem. back ground he did not like me. i was from out of province and he did not seem to like that either hahah. but like i said his choice.

Did you tell them that you had learned from your mistakes? Because like most people, I did some goofy things too. We all do, we all just don't get caught.
of course i did. i was from out of province and i really think that was the killer as now i have been told york does not interview outside gta.
That is UnTrue. Every Force will Interview outside of their Local Area - They Just need to believe that once you are hired you are dedicated to that Force once your probation is over.
Just my opinion..............

Most forces will interview people from other cities/provinces. The only one I know personally who really gives preference to local applicants is Hamilton. In speaking with the recruiter, they put local applicants first and then MIGHT consider the applications from people outside the 40 min perimeter. (they consider you local if you live within 40 minutes of Hamilton and have strong ties to the community - i.e. family, employment, etc.)
well i check this stuff out as i am a few provinces away and directly talking to a recruiter in toronto, york, and another force they say this but don't like to hire from outside the area. hamilton told me the same thing. this is information i have been given from the recruiters directly. i have family in the area and i use to live in toronto for 2 yrs for christ sake. bottom line is they like to hire from with in gta. you can say all you want but i know the facts and you are most likely from gta and if you were from a few provinces over u would see what i mean. been there done that.
