How hard is the WCT. Any inputs.

The WCT is not hard at all - Read Multiple Times; Collect and Organize Data and Summarize. Pay attention to time - alot of people concentrate so hard on writing neat - that they lose track of time and do not finish.

Just my opinion............

Thanks Bdp. I have heard that some people get the point form down and not even finish the writing part and still pass. I don't know how true that is. Is the sample questions on police prep like the ones on the PATTI or are they harder ie. more in depth, crime solving, multiple car accident etc. Any suggestions. I think I'm good at the other stuff put have not paid to much attention to the WCT.

I am sorry - but I have not looked at the WCT Preparations on policeprep.com and no longer have access. Maybe someone that has done both can provide their opinion.

Thanks...............

The best way to prepare for the WCT is to (or ideally get a friend or family member to) write out scenarios (as many as possible!) involving car accidents - it usually is an accident as far as I know - and then jumble up the sentences. Then you time yourself as you de-tangle the sentences and make sense of the scenario, writing out the types/colours of car involved and who was turning or whatever. Then you write your summary. It really is straightforward, but like anything else about these tests, takes practice as it is quite a specific skill. Hope that helps.

Doing the WCT test you are given the scenario on a sheet of paper. My question is are you allowed to make marks on the paper itself ie. underlining, crossing out etc. thanks

I wrote in September and passed. Here's the scope. The WCT is very much set up like the ones on this site, only 5 times longer. You can not write on the printed scenero - they give paper for your good copy essay, and paper for your good copy of points, and paper for your rough notes. What they explain at the beginning of the test is you can use the rough paper for your points/notes, but your points and essay have to be done on the good paper. I never used my \"rough\" paper - I wrote my points directly on the good paper - keeping them clear and in a general orderly fashion. Then I took my point notes and wrote my essay from the notes.

I have heard that even if the essay isn't finished, if the points are included on the good paper they will be counted. Don't worry though - there is enough time to do it - just keep good notes......

Thankyou very much on the info and your time to explain. Since you didn't make a rough note wern't you nervous about spelling etc.

Thankyou very much on the info and your time to explain. Since you didn't make a rough note were you not nervous about spelling etc. You talk about Essay format, is it not suppose to be like a report or are they looking for a structured ESSAY? Thanks Mark
