[quote:aabe2a7910=\"fjacky\"]Hello All,
I just found out that I passed the BPAD...
Now for the hard stuff.
Is it recommended to apply to multiple Police Services, or 1 at a time?
Is there a special resume format that is recommended to use, or can I just use my resume that I used for my carreer in IT?
I have also seen a few postings regarding a mentoring class located in Oshawa (Durham) It prepares you for the LFI, ECI Psych. and Interview stages.
Has anybody taken this course before? Was it worth the money?
Any input would be GREAT. I am really low on $$$$ and want to make sure it is worth it.
Thanks ALL for your help along the way so far[/quote:aabe2a7910]

Anyway. Anyone have any thoughts on my previous post?

Congrats on your success. Now you are entering into the next stage of .... \"EXTREME STRESS\".
Response to your questions: 1. enter as many as you can... if you are successful at your LFI with one force, they another force can jump you directly to your ECI. Same goes for your ECI. If your application is with many forces, this doesn't mean you will have to face the interviews multi times.
2. Resume.... a special one isn't necessary-just make sure you include any and all experiences with security, guarding, and even experience driving different vehicles. I haul a 24 ft horse trailer and a varioty of different machines, and during the interview they commented on experience. Also, catch the web sites of certain forces, I know that Ottawa and OPP have specific forms that have to be submitted.
3. I have only heard people talking about mentoring program-I have no experience with it. If you don't have a lot of cash, you can do your own research. For the LFI - this is a corporate style interview, and they will be interested in your knowledge of their specific force. Also looking for answers to \"why\" questions. For the ECI Check out \"behavioural style interviews\" on the web and find out how they are run. There are 5 competencies-flexibility, self-control, self-confidence, relationship building, and diversity. Have some examples for each of these competencies.
Sorry volume of this message - hope it helps.

Thanks a lot for your depth.
What do you mean by 'Why' questions?
Also, how long is the LFI interviews usually?
Would it be proper to wear a suit to the LFI?
And, if a person is successful with the LFI, how fast to you get called in for the ECI?

Hey fjacky I would be dressed to your BEST and well groomed. I attentened a mentoring session in Toronto and I was wearing my suit, everyone else was wearing jeans and track pants. After the mentoring session the recruiter came over to me and thanked me for dressing the way I did. It all comes down to respect, since they are giving you a chance for interviewing. I also heard about the mentoring session, the private one, talked to the guy and he runs one every month. It seems like it would be a great idea. Jenn mentioned to search the internet, I did and there was a huge anount of info there, just cut and paste into a search engine. \"behavioural style interviews\" Good luck and let me know how you made out because I will soon be in the same position.

So, \"behavioural style interviews\" would be the LFI interview?

LFI is Local Focus Interview
ECI Is Essential Competency Interview. There is behavioural components to this interview.

The LFI is the Local Focus interview and it is a corporate style interview. They ask you a lot of \"why\" questions. At the interview they asked us not to repeat the questions, so search the web. Just think of what questions you would ask someone if you were hiring them to say ... clean your house. What would you want to know about them? This interview is 1 hour long.
The ECI is the Essential Competencies Interview, and this is a behavioural style. This is where you better have \"life skills\" for the competencies. This interview could be up to 4 hours!!
Dress to impress each time! Hope this helps.

Thanks, and I plan on borrowing a real nice watch from a friend. When they set up a day for LFI/ECI, what happens if you are working that day?
Should you go no matter what?

AND. If the next Police College startr date is Jan 9, is it too late to put your applications in? Could they speed you through the process that quick?

You should never cancel and interview. It shows them your level of commitment if you cancel to be a little negative. If they say \"jump\" at this point you say \"how high?\". This should be your number 1 priority.

There's no harm in applying at this time, however I would highly doubt that you would get in for Jan 9/06. If you already had an interview scheduled it *may* be possible, but not from submitting an application I would think.
