Hello
I am very new to this and have never written the PATI, I was very close to passing the GATB a few years ago. I got 295 and needed 299. I have some questions I hope someone can help me with.
1) Is the PATI harder then the GATB
2) Are the tests in the Police Prep site the same as the real thing?
3) Is there allot of Algebra. If so is it fairly deep, or is it basic.
The reason I ask about algebra is I am terrible at it, but if you just need to worry about the basics then that?s what I will do. And focus on other things such as speed math.
Last of all. How much time is needed to prepare. Would 6 or 7 weeks be enough practicing 5 out of 7 days a week, or should I push out the test date.
Thanks to how ever replies

Redwinger: The PATI and GATI are similar, but then different - so don't waste time trying to compare. The tests on this site, I found, are very much the same as the actual test. I found the questions to be harder on the actual test though - more than likely it was the stress which added to the difficulty.
There is algebra on the test in the math section - and it is difficult. The problem with the PATI is you can't use not do them and ace the other sections and pass. You need to be successful in each section - so start working on algebra questions.
If you apply yourself you should be able to do it in the time frame. HINT: if you need more practice with math - I went to a local high school and used their text book .... really helped me. Hope this helps ...

Hello Jen
Thansk for the info. just so i understand You have to pass each section of the PATI unlike the Gatb where if you were poor in one area you could gain enough on other sections to pull you though. Is this corrrect?
Also, on the algebra is it basic algebra? Beginer level or is it fairly advanced?
Just one other question did you pass?
Thanks again

Redwinger: I was successful in the PATI - I am currently at the interview stages with 2 forces.
On one knows what the passing mark is for the PATI - but through discussions on this site and with other people - it is commonly believed that 75-80% is as low as marks can be.
That being said - as for passing each section - if you failed 1 section in its entirety you could still technically pass provided you answer every other section correctly.
But as we don't know how they mark it - they may be looking for a certain percentage correct in each section, rather than the final overall mark.....there really is no clear answer to give you - sorry .....
As for the algebra - I would have to say fairly basic .... nothing that this site doesn't cover ...
Clear as mud? :?
