    Prep question

I have a question regarding the PREP test. My concern is only with the Push/Pull Portion of the testing...and actually just the Push portion. How much force does it require to complete? I workout regularly using weights and take Ju Jitsu/Kickboxing 3 times a week which includes lots of push ups. 70 lbs just sounds like alot of weight to push from a standing position. Any tips or info I can get is much appreciated. My test date is June 4th so if I need to change or up my routine the sooner I know the better. Thanks!!

Anyone can correct me if I am wrong - but I think it is 90lbs. The Push is the easier of the 2. All you need to do is put your wait until the Push and move side to side. Most people have had more issues with the Pull - because it is still 90lbs and you need to keep your center of gravity low so the weight does not touch. You can only shuffle on the Pull and can Shuffle Step or Cross Step on the Push.

Please remember that when you are given the opportunity to try everything out - do not waist your energy on the dummy pull. After doing (4) laps - Push - Arm - Pull - Arm you are tired. Try the equipment out but don't exert yourself.

Thanks for the input. I've checked around and all the sites say it's 70 lbs. I know with the Pull you basically have to Squat and use your core to pull back...in kickboxing we do alot of squats and core conditioning. My friend who passed everything (PATI, WCT, PREP, BPAD, etc) the first time thru (yes it is possible) told me more women have trouble with the Push portion. But hearing that it basically involves utilizing your weight...I feel better. And the dummy drag I have done a couple of times thru my volunteering so I have a good idea of what to expect. I figure if my friend could do it at 5' tall and 100 pounds...then anyone can. lol Thanks for the information...much appreciated.

I passed all my tests first time through except the vision (had laser eye surgery last week and now have 20/20 vision) so I will have to redo my physical due to the 6 month expiry.

As for the push/pull I found the push to be quite difficult, not so much the push but keeping up the weights during the rotations. I to work out quite a bit and compete competitively in 3 day eventing (riding) so the pull is no problem if your squats are strong, by the dummy drag you feel it in your quads and butt. To help lots of bench press and cable work if you go to the gym and you should have not problems.

    PREP

Thanks again for all the great tips. I actually just got a call from the local college here and they are going to run me thru the PREP course they have set up. For a very small..but well spent ...fee, they will give a tutorial and then time you as you run thru the course. I figure this will help with the unknown...that way I have an idea of what to expect when I take my test. Thanks again!
