    Prep

Whats the best way for training for the prep(shuttle run) on the treadmill. from the beggining of the test? I have my run ATS in 26 Days, but i caught a really bad cold, and dont want to practice my run outside anymore, because its freezing outside, so the treadmill is my only option. I already know i can do it, so its not about making it better, I have gone to 8.5 before, but because of my cold I am worried about it, should I postpone my test, has anyone ever done the Prep with a throat infection, I dont know what to expect and I dont want to waste my money

I know, I already have the beep test on my mps player, what I mean is that I have the beep test, and I do it outside all the time( in parking lots, cuz 6 parking spaces is 20m, lol I measured) but I want to start doing it at the gym on the treadmill, so what my question was was what speed should I run on ther treadmill for howlong, and at what increments do I increase the speed, to recreate running it, like the actuall shuttle run
    Thanks

The Shuttle-Run is very hard to test yourself on a Treadmill. While you can get your speed properly - you cannot take into account the stop and re-starts + distance is difficault to track while running and manually uping the speed.

Best thing to do is (You might look like a tool) but mark the proper distance on a sidewalk and load the Beep-Test into an MP3 Format and do it exactly as the test will. The only true way to know.

    Thanks.............

then you'll have to increase your speed and decrease it in 20 seconds then increase it and then decrease it and so on........

Roy - While you are correct - it would be impossible to decrease and increase accurately enough to account for the start / stop. In addition your timing will be off from the treadmill controls.

If you truly want to run on the treadmill run for 20 minutes. Start at 6.0 for 5-Minutes; then 6.5 for 10 minutes; then go back to 6.0 and move up 0.5 every minute. If you can do that without a problem you can pass the Prep. Simulating the PREP on a Treadmill is \"I am sorry\" but just stupid.

    Just my opinion................

Well if you want to call me stupid BDV, maybe you should look at the original posting, and read my exact question. Which was that I had a really bad cold at the time, and was wondering how I could do it indoors, because I didn't want to get sicker. I dont know maybe that is how I was being stupid eh!! Ya I guess wanting to make sure, I dont catch pnemonia, and wasnt sick for my test coming up was stupid. Gosh BDV thanks for pointing that out and putting me in my place, I just feel sooooo stupid...........Whatever!!!! :P
