    Auxiliary concern

Hi guys need some assistance/advice. Recently had an interview for an Auxiliary position but if you commit to auxiliary for 2 years you cannot apply to for police constable position.
I do not have much volunteer/life experiences on hand just a few months at the red cross and previous education.
I also know of a few officers in the detachment. What do you think go for the Auxiliary postion for 2 years and build up my credentials? more education/volunteer + auxilary or go for the police constable with not so much on hand just some volunteer experience and a few names?

    Any suggestions?

Who told you that you couldnt apply if you were and Auxilliary Officer. The whole point is to gain experience and potentially become a constable. As long as you resign the position prior to joining the detachment you have been accepted to you should be fine, or at least I thought.

if you are an auxiliary say for Metro you are obligiated to do a minimum of 2 years with them. If you do apply to metro for a P/C position in the mean time you will not get hired by metro because you made a commitment to the auxiliary program for 2 years which will look bad on your name and file since your application falls under the Metro employment umbrella. Its either one or the other if you want to maintain a good record with that force.

Sounds to me like you're applying to OPP.

I know many auxiliaries that got hired after only 1 year. It really depends on your performance.

I have heard of OPP auxiliary being hired before the two year commitment is up. Anyone here experienced this?

I heard the same ... I have never heard about the 2 year thing ... it sounds a little off!! Why would a force impose this restriction ?

You might want to confirm this.

I can tell you from personal experience that OPP Auxiliary asks for a two year \"term\" - however I know 4 PC's that were hired after 1.5 years of serving as an auxiliary. OPP's auxiliary programme is a great stepping stone....

Hey Dafez do you know when the two that were hired applied. Since it usually TAKES A YEAR FROM YOUR application date I wonder how long they waited to apply?

They were hired over the past 5 years. You have to realize that sometimes GREAT candidates go in to the process, and are hired VERY quickly. If you stand out to a recruiter, they will rush you through.
