    Game on!

    Hi guys,

I have an interview scheduled in 3 weeks with Ottawa Police Service.

As anyone on this board gone through the process with them? I would appreciate any inputs. Do they have a LFI, ECI process as well? I was told it was a behavioral interview; and to check the website (which did not say much...).

I'd also like to have more details regarding the interviews that went sour too. (Last post)

    Cheers all,

    Carl

    Carl,
When did you place your application with Ottawa? Mine has been there for almost 3 months online and I'm still waiting for acceptance by a recruiting officer.

p.s. I am also interested on the replies to the previous posts on the interviews

    Ottawa profile

    Hi Carl,

Congratulations on getting an interview with the Ottawa PS. Having submitted my application sometime in May, I was recently informed I was not successful and would not proceed to the interview stage. I have not applied to any other Service at this point. My question to you is, could you please tell us a little about your profile? I am interested in what criteria make an acceptable candidate.

Myself, I am in my early-30?s and am looking to make a career change to police work. I have a Master of Science degree and 5+ years experience in my area of expertise, developing products in an industrial research setting. I can demonstrate on the job initiative and a proclivity for continuous learning. I have experience teaching and have volunteered as a coach, a high school tutor and with veterans. Earlier in my life I was in the military reserve and I have always maintained a high standard of fitness.

My shortcomings are that I don?t speak French and don?t have much in the way of direct knowledge or experience, e.g. auxiliary police, criminology degree etc. Also, the amount of time spent volunteering probably totals just over a year. Is that enough?

If you (or anyone else) could highlight the strengths of their candidacy or has comments about my background it would be greatly appreciated.

    Best regards and good luck.

    Mark
