I signed up to do it in September in Burlington!
I'm hoping for January intake with Hamilton in January! |

I just recently got my PAL and R-PAL I took the course at York Region Firearm Academy http://www.yrfirearms.com/.
It was a well run course, and I learned a lot of useful information, keeping in mind I've been an officer for 3 years now and still learned a lot I think speaks volumes for their training.
They go over a lot of the handling and storage rules and other things you don't get to learn at OPC so I'd say it’s a valuable course.
It took almost 4 months to actually get my licence the RCMP does a full background check prior to issuing the licence. _________________ Ontario Provincial Police |

| The Safety Course takes place on a weekend. You'll do the course and your testing. From there you'll submit your application. It took me 2 months to get my PAL/RPAL in the mail. The wait depends on how fast the CFC is moving. |

Do it all in one go, why waste two weekends when you can do both in one weekend? _________________ Ontario Provincial Police |

Too funny; got mine there as well. Agree, a well run outfit. What I found interesting when I went. They used approx six (6) different instructors throughout course. And they were all really good.
I always refer people to them. Just like I was referred by someone. |

Depends on what you need it for. I myself have both, I did my non-restricted when I was 12yrs old I believe with my hunter apprentice course. I later got my restricted for a job. However, most people aren't going to be firing off handguns, so for most, the restricted is not necessary. Are you just getting them for the hell of it? Or are you actually using them for something. |

In my case, it would be strictly to gain knowledge and if I am lucky enough to get hired on, at least I would have the basics before heading to OPC. |
