Hi Folks,
I'm trying to put together a simulator at home for the push-pull restraint machine (I'm sure it has an actual name!) and need to know the approximate length of the horizontal arm that swings from side to side. (Looks to be about 3 feet long) This is so that I can simulate the "push" component better - the "pull" is pretty straightforward.
Basically, what is the radius that you move in to shuffle through 180 degrees while raising the weight?
Thanks in advance for your help! |

I think it is bit longer than 3ft. The total length might be closer to 4ft... maybe more. not 100% sure though. If i had to guesstimate I'd say the radius is closer to 8-10ft.
Honestly if you can bench 90lbs you should be fine heh... I find most people have more hard time with the shuttle run than any of the other tests... _________________ O.A.C.P - 10/15/09

On the ATS website is the "fit to serve" brochure for download, there are pictures of the simulators, that should help you to build it. Not sure if you need your own machine - but, why not?

Well I usually only bench 70lbs, and i had no problem with the push simulator.. the pull part of it is much easier though. _________________ Stronger Mind, Stronger Body

Don't waste your time trying to "simulate" each compenent of the circuit. I personally find the push/pull to be the easiest part. I had to work on endurance. Just do push-ups, and you'll do fine. People who have difficulty with the push/pull, it's not the 70 pounds, but going back and forth with it. It's good that you're taking everything into consideration, but for me, all I did was run outside, plus go to the gym from time to time and run on a treadmill and do weights. In addition, I would go to a PREP workshop at the local college when they had it. _________________ O.A.C.P received December 22, 2009
