| Good balance/core test: as per subject line; while sitting on the floor, stand up without using your hands........sounds pretty simple, right? Give it a try. |

Sounds interesting. Sitting with legs flat out? Or cross legged?

Don't think it matters; however it was demonstrated to me, with the person sitting on floor with legs extended as a starting point. |

Could see how it might be hard for some people. I could imagine extremely hard for those who have a bit too much excess weight above the hips.
Is this actually used for a service's fitness test? |

Ideally a person wants to be able to do it fast. A kung fu instructor showed me. Now this guy can move super quick.
As for service tests.......don't know. When it comes to self defence, being able to get to ones' feet ASAP cannot hurt.
Just thought it was rather neat to see. |
