Hello all
I guess this would be a little venting here.
I applied to a service last year, and well It was looked over and I was given a PBQ date on the spot. Long story short I had to apply to the service again this year and I was put on the waiting list for awhile and decided to contact recruiting. I was told I lacked a little in volunteer work. I found this a little odd because I volunteered a bit more then the last time I applied. Would this be an excuse on the recruiters point of view or is the hiring gotten very stricked lately?

They would have pulled up your file from last year.
Volunteering as you already know is huge with all services. We all know how competitive the process is with any service and you can be sure that people are bringing their A game to the table when they apply. If they see someone who is just doing it to meet their minimum standard they may question their motives for volunteering vs someone they have seen at it for a solid 2 years consistently. There is no shortage of applicants to choose from, and fewer positions.
All you can do is scratch it up to experience, keep volunteering.
Who was the service out of curiosity? |
