|
|
In every application I've come across, there's always a section that asks you to list any other police services that you've applied to. What is the reason for this?
Does it look bad on you if you have applied to multiple services? My plan was originally to apply to as many departments as possible... But if that's something that might be frowned upon by certain departments then obviously I'll have to re-evaluate my approach.
Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks guys. |

Apply to 2-3-4 if ya want. Just be honest about it. If you go far with one service, they may ask you to withdraw your application from another service. Don't really understand that, but as long as you are forthcoming u are fine. _________________ HIRED 2008 |

I was actually thinking more along the lines of 10-15 services... Would that be extreme?
How many services would you say the average applicant applies to? |

Perhaps 10-15 is going a bit overboard eh?
I just want to ensure I've covered every possibility, and left no stone unturned... Ya know? I mean, what if a service I haven't applied to was actually the one that would've hired me? It's that possibility that worries me. |

What if my aunt had balls? She'd be my uncle.
Throw your hat into 3 or 4 and go from there. _________________ HIRED 2008 |

Depends on the service.... some don't like other applications out there. They want loyality..... Which is a load of crock to me.
I would apply to a bunch. |

Here's my take on the numerous applications go for it, but make sure you have what it takes. The issue is 15 applications 8 differals, your at interview number 9 and asked where have you applied you say 15 services and they ask how your making out so you say well I've been differed by these 8 so number 9 says why would we want you.
So what I'm saying as long as your applications are moving along and your being successful recruiters don't mind it's when you have applied to numerous services and aren't being successful they look at why. |

Thanks for the input everybody.
I'll probably take your advice fjacky and apply to just a few to start with, and see how things develop from there.
(And I hope your aunt is ball-less!) |

Definitely overkill. Don't worry about leaving stones unturned... its not like you're on a time limit. Apply to a couple and see where you get. If they don't take you, apply to a couple more. |

Hey Hummer I was just wondering your opinion on my case, because of what you said about the deferrals looking bad, this made me feel very nervous because I recently had an LFI with HPS witch was my 3 choice and got deferred
but now I have an interview in the end of the month with TPS witch is my first choice do you think this will affect me, HPS didn't gave me any explanation why I got deferred, my best guest is that I am from Toronto so they have most think that I wasn't going to stay with them for long
But again do you think this will affect my interview with TPS ? |

Don't worry if you applied to only three services and have been deferred by one and going for interview number two. I was using the large number of deferals 8 or so as an example. I actually asked a recruiters opinion on this subject and that was their response.
But don't worry about one most people don't make it first try. |
